When you install the full version of the Epson printer software and drivers on your computer, you install the ink level detector as part of the package. This indicator measures how much ink has been used in different cartridges, giving you an alert when one is low or out of ink. If you use ink-filled Epson cartridges or a cartridge that is not made by Epson, the ink level software displays a warning message every time you print, telling you that the cartridge is out of ink.
Steps to Disable Ink Detector on an Epson Printer
Step 1 – Install the refilled ink cartridge into the printer and close the cover. Don’t try to print until you turn off the ink level software.
Step 2 – Click the “Start” or Windows button on the computer, located on the left side of the taskbar. Click on “Control Panel” and the “Printers” option, then right-click on the Epson printer icon.
Step 3 – Click “Properties” or “Preferences” on the menu that appears. Click the tab labeled “Maintenance” and then the “Speed and Progress” button in the lower window.
Step 4 – Click the box next to “Disable Epson Status Monitor” to bring up a tick on it. Click the “OK” button at the bottom of the window to save your selection and close the window.
